Lent is here, and with meat literally off the table, many turn their attention to fish. Luckily, there’s no shortage of seafood in Fayetteville.  What Are Sandwich Panels

La Perla, a newish restaurant on Glensford Drive, has gotten a lot of attention on the foodies Facebook page recently. It serves mostly seafood dishes from Nayarit, a state along Mexico’s western coast.

Their combination plates — sprawling boards stacked with steak, octopus, crabs and lobster —  seem to be popular, but they’ll run you at least $50. The most expensive one is $189.

Fear not, you don’t have to spend a fortune to try out the buzzy eatery. I got three fish tacos and a mango margarita the size of my head for $28 plus tip.

I’ve already written about making poke at home with tuna from Sunfish Market on Yadkin Road, but it’s worth another mention, because I haven’t stopped thinking about it since then and I made it again for dinner last night.

When I stopped in Sunday at Sunfish, I tried two of their new items: the Ohana sushi roll, which is topped with salmon and a peach sauce, and the Korean dried radishes, which are marinated in a gochujang-spiked sauce. Both were amazing.

Of course, I’d be remiss to not mention some of the long-running seafood restaurants. If you’re looking to get a taste of Fayetteville tradition, these are the spots to visit:
