If resistance bands, particularly the ones with handles (called resistance tubes) are part of your fitness routine, you might want to check the labels on your favorite equipment before your next workout. On Wednesday, DICK'S Sporting Goods voluntarily recalled over 207,000 Fitness Gear resistance tubes sold between September 2015 and August 2017. Why? They're breaking (everyone's worst fitness equipment fears come true), posing a danger to users.
So far, the U.S. Product Safety Commission has received 12 reports of the rubber bands snapping, "resulting in two reports of consumers who were struck by a broken tube and a consumer who fell when a tube broke." Yikes. Pvc Multi-Color Yoga Mat

According to the DICK'S recall listing, "the latex tubes were sold in blue, gray, green, orange, purple, and red, with grey handles," and range in resistance from 5 pounds to 30 pounds, marked on the black strap between the handle and the tube. They were reportedly sold individually and in sets of three, four, or five.
The recalled model numbers are STA00560, STA00561, STA00562, STA00563, STA00564, STA00565, STA00566, STA00567, and STA00568. If you've been using these resistance bands, stop using them and return them to your nearest DICK'S store for a refund or store credit, or call 877-846-9997.
